Director/Conductor The Wilmington Choral Society is pleased to welcome Mrs Paula Brinkman
as our new Musical Director and Conductor. Paula is a retired music educator from the Schenectady, New York area, where she
taught all levels of general and vocal music for 35 years. Her last placement was at Niskayuna High School, where she directed
five various vocal ensembles which consistently earned superior ratings at state and national competitions. Paula also served
as the musical director/producer of Niskayuna's spring musical productions and for 15 years hosted the New York State School
Music Association's Zone 7 Choral Majors Festival. She recently retired as the head choir director for the Americans Music
Abroad Red Tour Honors Choir, which gives high school musicians the opportunity to tour and present concerts in Europe each
summer, featuring the music of American composers. Mrs Brinkman has studied with some of the great choral teachers.
Harriet Simmons, Jan Harrington, Brock McElheran, Richard Sheil, and Donald Lang. She has had the opportunity to perform with
some of the great musicians of our time, such as Eugene Ormandy, Aaron Copland, James Levine, Sarah Caldwell, James Pritchard,
Lukas Foss, and Franz Allers.

Paula has twice been honored as a General Electric S*T*A*R award winner
and has twice been nominated as an "Outstanding Educator" by the YMCA. She has been named six times to "Who's
Who Among America's Teachers and three times to "Who's Who of American Women". She is also a winner of the Murray
Award for Excellence in Education. A native of East Hampton, Long Island, Paula is a graduate of SUNY Fredonia, with advanced
graduate studies at C.W. Post College, SUNY Fredonia, SUNY Potsdam, and Temple University. She and her husband, Bill are the
proud parents of three children and have recently taken up residence in Wallace, N.C.
